Artefact 1 Evaluation
The first artefact that I have created was made using a capture card to capture video and audio from my playstation 3 to my pc. I ran into a few problems with which lead to the first 2 captures to have no audio but the video was there. The program that I used to capture this is called Pinnacle Studio HD which came with the capture device which has 2 methods of capture one is called AMCapture and the other is directly through Pinnacle Studio HD itself.
What I found was that because the game that I was capturing from was linear I had to capture certain aspects in order to give the Machinima a narrative. What I expected was different from what I found due to the game already having a story, I had move the scenes around in order to tell the narrative that I wanted to tell. Something else that I found was the character expressions were severely limited and it was hard if not impossible to get a happy or angry expression but I think because that’s how the game was made there were going to be limitations.
With AMCapture I was not gaining any sound but after looking online and going through settings I found that I had to capture using Pinnacle Studio HD, Whilst the game was limiting in the scenes and expressions I think I have done a good job in making a small Machinima film, but there is a lot that I want to be able to like character expression and custom voice acting as well as putting characters in poses that they are not already limited to. Malac the first film i made at uni

Malac

I went and met up with my group and we disccused the malac idea and what peoples jobs where gonna be as well as do a proposal and a treatment.

Proposal

When a demoralised, disorientated man finds himself in a hostage situation, a world of confusion begins; his where abouts is unknown as he struggles to remember how he got there. A twisted woman holds the key to his future, is he innocent?

Treatment 1

He is tied up to a chair, the room is dark and the air is moist, there is hardly any light you cannot see much. He is sweating a bit. A silhouette of a woman walks in; all you hear are her foot steps. The man face looks rugged and confused of where and why he is here. She says in a calm and polite term “are you sure you wouldn’t like a drink”, the camera focuses on her face as she smiles and she says “it’s never too late to change your mind”. Focus’s on his face, he looks frightened and he says “I swear. I swear. please. Stop, Please? The woman brings a case in front of her; the shot is of her doing this, she says “sush. be quiet. quiet, It will no longer be necessary to lie. He says “I swear…”. She says whist opening the case “shush, shush, I have here a MALac. God it’s beautiful. He says “Don’t. Don’t. I swear. She says in a pleased voice “Malacs. Now no more shall we part on this path of truth we find ourselves on. Opening the case, its glowing sheen plays on her face. She says “pain, enlighting truth. This is what MALac brings. Shall we continue? She removes the MALac and shutting the case steps forward towards the man, the man turns his head away from the MALac. Man steps out of the shadows and forces he’s head towards the MALac. He screams.

The End

Charlotte took photographs of her basement but we are going to look at a few more locations and take photographs there before we decide on an actual location

New sets of video logs

ok so this was my 3rd video log and was about my bike and i was just talking about my bike really and thats about it sounds boring but if you watch it you may like it :D

This video log is slightly wierd and it was inspired by a friend of mine who had 1 of my leather gloves which she had stolen on a night out and i asked for it back and she was like iv taken it hostage and want a ransom for it, and then i talked to her about the idea and she loved the idea so i went and made a video with hand puppets but it was pretty fun to make



and thats all iv done so far, i have to edit and upload a video of me playing guitar im still new at it and suck but i can play a little bit iv only been playing for like 4 days but im making some progress so ill have that uploaded and edited soonish

Video Loggin

iv been doing some video logging about my everyday iv done 2 video logs ill be doing another one when i get my bike back which should be on monday but here are 2 that iv done so far.

Data Management

Getting your pc and laptop hacked isnt the best thing in the world, its also has to be one of the worst things that can happen to you, especially if the hacker wiped your hard drives on both your laptop and pc.

Now what this means is that you loose all your work and if your back ups were connected to your machines chances are they were wiped to. Now what to do you do if you loose all your work. Theres not a lot you can do, unless you back up your work on a regular basis. Backing up your work on to your computer or your laptop isnt the best way to back up.

I have managed to recover some work through my emails because when i was at uni i used to email my work home if i accidently left my usb at uni. This also isnt the best way to back up because if the servers were to go down you would be really screwed over and not able to access your work.

After looking around on the internet, talking to a few friends I found outt he best way to back up your work is by using a Re-writable cd or dvd so that after every session you can create a folder, date it, save it and put the cd or dvd away for use at a later time. This way you can keep the work you got and will have progression to go with it.

Igor

I have done 2 batches of igor my butler at the moment its just a head but i am going to start making the body soon, the first set of photos i used boolean which ended up messing everything up as i couldnt animate it without the polygons exploding.

this time i used the morphing tool to give him some facial expressions and its turned out really well, am starting to love character making lots its really fun
